Description
The Walt Disney World Monorail is one of the many transportation options to get around the Walt Disney World Resort. It stops between the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom Resorts.

Information
Wait Time: Low to High – Peak crowds in the morning when the parks open and at night when they close. There is usually minimal traffic during the afternoon.
Weather Info: Lightning and strong storms may shut down the monorail depending on the severity. Boats and/or buses will operate in their place during closures.
Queue
Security: The monorail is past security, and guests will need to pass through a security checkpoint before entering the queue. The security process for all stations is the same. Click HERE for Walt Disney World Security Information.
Resort Stations: The Monorail stations at all resorts are located on upper levels accessible by elevator or stairs. There are no steep or uneven areas to access the resort monorail stations.
Contemporary Resort Station: The Station is split into two sections. The main entrance is on the left side. After security, an escalator brings you to the station. The alternate entrance is on the right side, which has an elevator after security.
Magic Kingdom/Transportation & Ticket Center: The Monorail stations at the Magic Kingdom and TTC are located on an elevated platform accessible by a long ramp. This ramp is moderately steep and may require excess strain on the body or assistance walking or pushing a wheelchair. There are no elevator alternatives to using the ramp.
EPCOT: The Monorail station at EPCOT has a very steep ramp going up to the elevated platform. There is an elevator located after the first small section of ramp, which can be used to access the platform.
Climate: All stations and queues are covered and protected from the sun. Minimal air flow, can get hot during the humid summers.
Lighting Conditions: Outdoor, sunlit. Lit at night.
Sound Environment: The stations themselves are quiet, with the monorails making minimal noise. During peak times, the stations can get loud due to the number of guests.

Loading and Riding
Vehicle Style: Each car has two sections separated by a double-sided bench in the middle. Guests cannot move between the sections. Each end of the car also has a bench for a total of 2 benches per section, 4 per car. There are 6 total cars per train. Between the benches, there are 4 poles from floor to ceiling for standing guests to hold on to.
Loading Process: Once in the station, guests are free to choose any car they would like. During peak busy times, guests will be directed to fill in all available space starting at the cars in the front and rear. Guests who need to use the wheelchair ramp to get into the car will be directed to the middle two cars.
Restraint System: No restraints. A door closes after boarding.
Monorail Speed: Slow-moving, moderate speed changes throughout the ride near stations. If standing, stopping forces require bracing and the use of pole supports.
Monorail Dynamics: Minimal lateral forces due to turns. Stopping can be fast and forceful due to backups and line traffic.
Attraction Lighting: Monorail cars have windows and natural sunlight. In stations and at night, there is lighting in the cars, although it is not overly bright.
Attraction Climate: Each Monorail car has air conditioning. The cars do get warm when stopped at a station with doors open.
Attraction Sound: Occasional spiels via the PA system. Announcements by the conductor may be sudden and jarring. Depending on the crowd level, cars may be loud due to the number of guests.

Deboarding Process: Riders exit in the same format as they loaded. The door will open when the train returns to the station. Guests will need to step down while exiting. A cast member will position the ramp if needed.
Exit
Resort Stations: The Monorail stations at all resorts are located on upper levels. Guests can take the elevators or stairs to return to the resort.
Contemporary Resort Station: After exiting the Monorail car, the escalator is located at the front of the train. Elevators are located in the middle of the train. Inform the Cast Members that you would like to use it.
Magic Kingdom/Transportation & Ticket Center: The Monorail stations at the Magic Kingdom and TTC are located on an elevated platform, and a ramp is taken to exit the station; no elevators are available. The resort Monorail exit is narrow, with the entrance on the left. The center divider ends after the exit gate, so guests waiting at the entrance may spread out and block the exit.
EPCOT: The exit consists of a long and winding exit ramp and walking path. An elevator is available, but it is located on the entrance side of the platform. You must exit on the entrance side and inform a Cast Member that you would like to use the elevator to exit.
Special Notes
Mobility: An elevator is available at the EPCOT station. Ramps are in use at all other stations. Resort stations do not have ramps, and the Contemporary Resort station has escalators or an elevator. A ramp is available to assist wheelchairs to enter the Monorail car.
Neurodivergent: Monorail cars can be loud, busy, and claustrophobic during busy times.
